Letter from SAE Program Director

Dear exchange students, Host Families, and Local Coordinators!
I hope this finds you well. As we enter the month of March, I am delighted to bring you the latest news and updates from our exchange program. It has been a busy and exciting month filled with cultural exchanges, academic adventures, and lasting friendships.
1. Cultural Immersion Highlights: Our exchange students have been actively engaging in cultural experiences, from participating in sports to exploring historical landmarks. Claudia has officially joined Villa Rica High School’s tennis team, was invited to the school prom, and will be escorted by a senior. Flavio and Rodrigo had a fun day visiting local museums. Julia and Greta got a taste of NY snowfall and NYC life!
2. Academic Triumphs: Our exchange students continue to shine academically. The math Team Maria belongs to has placed 1st in Division 4 at the UW-Platteville Math Team competition. Maria’s commitment to learning and adapting to new educational systems is truly commendable.
3. Language Mastery: Language barriers diminish as our students immerse themselves in the local language. It’s heartening to witness their progress in communicating effectively, not just in the classroom but also in day-to-day interactions. Annie and Camilla have made more friends and successfully overcome homesickness.
4. Upcoming Events:·
March is Women’s History Month·
March is Youth Art Month·
Match 21st is National Teenagers Day. Let your exchange students know how much they are cared for and appreciated. Take this day to talk to them and let them know you are available to talk and listen to their worries, personal concerns, or thoughts on important issues in their lives.
5. Words from Our Students: “This experience has been life-changing. I’ve learned so much about myself and the world around me. The friendships I’ve made here will stay with me forever.” – Carolina, Germany.
6. Shoutouts and Acknowledgments: A big thank you to our host families and local coordinators for your unwavering support. Your openness and warmth have made this exchange program truly exceptional.
7. New Arrival Applications: We have received wonderful student applications from Spain, China, Taiwan, and Germany. Please spread the word or consider hosting again to help the student’s American dream come true!
As we look forward to the coming months, let’s continue to embrace the richness of cultural exchange and celebrate the bonds that unite us. Thank you for being an integral part of this incredible journey.
Wishing you all a joyful March!
Warm regards,
Diedra Connolly
