Meet Lily!

The month of October is upon us, and our team at Student Ambassador Exchange would like to recognize a Monitoring Local Coordinator that has consistently made an effort to go above and beyond her efforts to support our exchange students. We are proud to announce Lily as our October Local Coordinator of the Month!

Lily was born and raised in Hangzhou, China. As a little girl she always had a passion to travel and explore different countries and cultures. Almost two decades ago, Lily came to Tennessee as an exchange student. Attracted to the southern hospitality, country music, beautiful scenery and authentic southern cooking, Lily fell in love with Music City and has called it home ever since.

Her career started at Opryland Hotel, where she was hired as an intern. She completed the training program and went on to become a management associate in one of the largest hotel chains in the country.

Wanting to gain experience in consumer lending, Lily worked in the financial lending arena. Thinking that lending and real estate go hand in hand, Lily went on to become a licensed real estate agent. Her dream of running her own business has now become a reality!

Besides truly enjoying working with people, Lily also speaks fluent Mandarin, as well as English of course. She is currently a Chinese language instructor at two different facilities in Williamson County. Lily’s heart is to use her skills and knowledge to help people settle into their new Tennessee home.

Her unique experience in hospitality and finance, coupled with her bilingual skills and her genuine desire to help people, make Lily an outstanding asset to Student Ambassador Exchange. She has enjoyed so much to work with her host family and students. She hopes these unique experiences will be the lifelong joyful memories to many students to come.

American Football VS Soccer

American Football VS Soccer

Depending on where you live, football and soccer can refer to completely different games. For example, in America football refers to American football whereas in the UK it refers to association football, which in America would be called soccer. And while American football is the most popular sport in America, football (aka soccer) is the world’s most popular sport (brilliantmaps.com).

What’s the Difference?

American football is a team sport with eleven players on the field at a time. American football requires players to have speed, power, and explosiveness that requires helmets and padding to be worn. The main objective of the sport is scoring goals by moving forward with the ball into the opposite team’s end line for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the challenger’s goalpost.

Soccer (called fútbol or football in most countries) is the most popular sport in the world. The objective of the game is to score goals by kicking the ball into the net behind the goal post. Soccer involves primarily kicking the ball to play vs American football which uses throwing to move the ball.

Want to play a sport during your exchange?

Many exchange students learn new sports or enjoy an old favorite while studying abroad. Your local public school will offer seasonal sports. To the join the team, ask a counselor or coach about the process. Can’t find the sport you want to play at your school? Try city sports leagues! They offer a chance to meet your local community and compete in a sport.

Adoptee Cultural Exchange in Spain!

Children of All Nations, our parent company, has often been asked what it is like for Chinese adoptees in other areas around the world. We created our Adoptee Cultural Exchange Program, A.C.E.

This exchange program provides Chinese adoptees a chance to explore their heritage! And meet other children who have the same life experiences as they do! Adoptees participate in the program with other adoptees and families who adopted a child from China.

All the American girls are very well integrated in their families and they get along really well with the Spanish girls. They are becoming very good friends.

Each family is doing different things in different parts of Spain. They are going to the beach, to the swimming pool, to the mountains, doing cultural visits… They really want the girls to have fun and enjoy their stay in our country.

Our Program Coordinator in Spain

This is one of the most unique cultural exchange and heritage tour opportunities available for a Chinese adoptee, and we are the only U.S. agency currently offering this opportunity.
